Good things come to those who wait and for Brenda Walton, the wait to visit Nottingham’s famous Goose Fair for the first time has been 94 years.

But Brenda, a resident at Fairway View Care Home in Bulwell, finally made her Goose Fair debut earlier this month – and loved it.

Taking a spin on a classic carousel and trying her luck on a traditional hook-a-duck, Brenda said she ‘couldn’t believe how big’ the fair was.

She continued: “I had a fantastic time at the fair, I’ve never been or even seen it before.

"At 94 years old, you don’t expect to try a lot of new things, but I had so much fun on the carousel and I won a prize on hook-a-duck too.

‘I especially liked the donuts, and we brought some brandy snaps back for everyone at Fairway View as well.’

Sarah Barnes, home manager at Fairway View, added: “We’re always looking for ways to give our residents new experiences and memories to cherish, so to see Brenda’s face light up at Goose Fair and hear her laughter on the carousel was such a special moment.

‘We can’t wait to see what special memories we can create next.”

The staff and residents at Fairway View are also inviting their local community to their Halloween Party on Tuesday, October 31.

From 4pm until 6pm, all are welcome to put on their best costumes, go ‘trick or treating’ to the residents’ doors and enjoy some spooky treats.
