Town wins ban on boozing louts
The Designated Public Place Order - the 12th to be used in Doncaster - means officers can issue fixed penalty notices and seize alcohol from people who drink in public and cause problems.
The order, aimed at combating the negative effects of alcohol, does not include a ‘blanket ban’ on drinking in public places.

Chief Inspector Neil Thomas said: “Hopefully this order will be approved in September, to assist in tackling alcohol-fuelled antisocial behaviour in Thorne and Moorends.
“DPPOs are powerful orders that allow officers to confiscate alcohol from anyone behaving antisocially, or whom they believe will behave antisocially or become a nuisance to others should they continue drinking.
“If they fail to comply, they can be fined up to £500 or arrested.”
